Multiple-aperture arrays, high channel count digital and fiber-optic telemetry systems, and high bandwidth requirements have placed large demands on data acquisition and recording systems. ManTech meets that challenge with our advanced Multi-channel Array Processing System (MAPS), our high channel count VLDS and Sony based recording systems, our high density digital recorder (HDDR) interface, and controller technology. The MAPS is based on Motorola processors, real-time UNIX (RTU) with X Windows and MOTIF, two i860 based array processors, 64-channel A/D, and high-speed direct digital interface. MAPS is compact, portable, and routinely used by ManTech engineers to acquire, process, calibrate, and display the element and beam-level data from high channel count arrays systems aboard ships. More than 20 of our HDDR-based systems have been delivered and installed aboard U.S. Navy submarines to acquire data from AN/BQQ-5 and AN/BSY-1 sonar systems. ManTech has also developed custom interfaces and controllers for the new digital recorders that are capable of recording well over 1,000 channels of acoustic or vibration data.
