Data Center Operations
Case Study - Supporting VA Staff So They Can Support the VA Mission
The Veterans Administration’s (VA) IT Operations and Services/Infrastructure group needed a partner to help manage stability and security across its infrastructure, which included five data centers across the country. When the contract changed hands in 2019, a major challenge involved transitioning the team and getting new contractors fully up and running without any disruption to the project.
ManTech developed an onboarding approach that brought people in quickly and efficiently. We were able to get staff their PIV badges within five days and offer transitioning employees an entirely new level of support in terms of career development, training, and services. The team reported higher job satisfaction and engagement, which translated to better service delivery for the VA. Today, we are embedded across the entire spectrum of the project – from Security Management to Network and Telecom Support, and from Service Delivery Support to Facility Management and Data Center Operations.
The ManTech focus on employees meant team members were better able to identify and align with the VA mission. That translated to a deeper understanding of the agency and the work. The team took on the VA mission as their own and that’s important, given the broad range of individuals we have on the contract – from entry-level staff to senior level professionals doing Cyber, Data Base Administration, Windows & Linux Admin work. Together, we are providing thought leadership and innovation to the VA across its diverse array of legacy and mainframe applications — as well as its newer, cutting-edge applications and infrastructure. We’re a true partner who keeps things running for the VA – so its leaders can focus on veterans and veteran care.
