Investing In Our People With A Growth Mindset

My Take: Fueling Growth and Learning Within Intelligent Engineering at MANTECH

As we refine our practices and roll out these exciting practice hubs here at MANTECH, one thing is clear to me: how we approach career development is paramount. Within Intelligent Engineering, and because of the direct connection we maintain, I truly believe we’ve cultivated something special – a proactive hunger for learning and a real “startup mentality” when it comes to expanding our horizons.

You know, it’s not in our DNA for someone on this team to shy away from something simply because it’s unfamiliar. We embrace the challenge, whether that means diving into on-the-job learning or tapping into the wealth of knowledge within our own ranks through partnerships and mentorship. This has fostered a genuine growth mindset, where every single person, from our newest interns to our most seasoned experts, is constantly evolving.

And speaking of expertise, it’s a two-way street. One of the first things I tell folks when they join us is, “If you’re not teaching me something, we’re doing it wrong.” Because in a truly growth-oriented organization, learning flows from every direction – not just top-down, but from the ground up. Especially in a field as dynamic as ours, with technology changing at warp speed, there’s always a new perspective, a fresh insight that anyone can bring to the table.

Looking ahead as we scale with these hubs, this commitment to development will only amplify. Over the past few years, even before the hub structure fully materialized, I’ve been deeply involved with MANTECH University, forging strong partnerships with universities. We’ve collaborated to build relevant new curricula for certifications, master’s programs, and even supported the groundbreaking Doctor of Engineering program at Purdue University. As someone with a foot in both the industry and academia, I see immense value in these connections.

Beyond formal education, we’re also deeply engaged with professional groups like INCOSE, unlocking opportunities for more focused training through workshops, seminars, and conferences. As these hubs become fully operational, making these diverse avenues for growth clear and accessible to everyone will be a top priority.

Ultimately, I see career development as a dual responsibility. While MANTECH provides the platform and the resources – be it on-the-job experiences or external training – the real magic happens when each individual takes personal ownership of their growth journey. It’s about that internal drive to constantly elevate your skillset and competencies. And that’s the kind of proactive, learning-fueled spirit we’re building and nurturing within Intelligent Engineering at MANTECH.
