Overview

The Information Assurance Concepts and Essentials course is an intensive, 4.5-day hands-on training experience led by seasoned Information Assurance (IA) Security professionals. It provides the student with a broad understanding of IA security policy, principles, rules, and procedures. The course is based upon the two principal guidelines for Department of Defense (DoD) and intelligence community AIS security:

  • Joint Air Force – Army – Navy (JAFAN 6/3)
  • Director Central Intelligence Directive (DCID 6/3)
  • ICD 503

Students who complete this course will gain the skills, policy familiarity, and technical understanding necessary to perform the daily job functions of an Information Assurance Officer (IAO).

The Information Assurance Concepts and Essentials course has no prerequisite training requirement. The course is designed for the new security official. Exercises, quizzes, and examinations are used to measure student progress throughout the course. The cost per student for an open enrollment course is $1,750. This price includes presentation of the 4.5-day course, course textbook and reference materials. Continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided.

Maintaining Your 8570.1 Certification

This security course is worth 36 Continued Professional Education (CPE) points.  In order to maintain your Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification you need 120 CPE's within a 3-year period, and the minimum number of CPE's per year is 20.

Dedicated Presentation

The Information Assurance Concepts and Essentials course can be purchased as a dedicated presentation. The fixed price for the course is $27,500. This price does not include a facility in which to host the course. If the customer is unable to provide a suitable facility, one can be provided at additional cost. The cost of the course includes presentation of the 4.5-day course for a maximum of 25 students, course textbooks and reference materials for each student.
