An Interview with ManTech Employee, Carrie
Title: Senior Proposal Manager
Time at ManTech: 7.5 years
What is or has been the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
When I was in high school, I worked as a counselor at a Horseback Riding camp for a summer. As an adult, I was part of a team sent to Pakistan for a month to transition the operations of a special forces training camp for the U.S. State Department.
How do you balance career and home life?
Fortunately I work for a company and a team that understands the importance of both. While proposal development can be 24/7, there is also downtime to catch up on life, laundry and travel. I also work with an amazing team willing and able to pitch in when life emergencies happen.
What’s your favorite place in the world?
I recently visited Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. That has to be at the top of the list for vacations, but my very favorite place is home with my son.
What are you passionate about?
Kindness – random or deliberate, taking the time and energy to be kind to those around you
What is the coolest thing about what you’re working on now?
Going after a contract that we lost by the narrowest of margins a few years ago – never underestimate the power of a redemption story! The people that I work with, both on my team and across the company – there is such genuine enthusiasm for the work that we do to bring the best to our customers. It’s amazing to work with so many diverse individuals who have seen and done so many different things
What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with the company?
We’re doing a great job. I’d like to see ManTech continue to recognize the importance of the people who work hard to create and maintain our success, our reputation and our leadership.
What does “Securing the Future” mean to you?
To me “Securing the Future” means addressing not just the current requirements and threats, but working in partnership with our customers to respond to evolving and potential threats, before they can become major security issues
