Question 1.
What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about solving puzzles. When it comes to my clients, I’m passionate about the mission and being of service. On large engagements, it’s like I get to step into chaos and complexity and work alongside my clients to develop clear, coordinated action. I love serving my clients and helping them reach their goals, uncover insights and reveal unexpected gains.

What do you like most about MANTECH?

As a leader, I like the resources available to help others succeed in their professional growth goals. Since joining MANTECH, I’ve been able to expand the level of support and resources for my team. There are resources available to help them be more efficient with their day-to-day responsibilities as well as resources to help them develop critical competencies on their professional journey.

Question 3.
What advice do you have for those looking to start a career in Data and AI?

I have a lot of advice! However, my baseline advice to those who are serious about starting a career in data and AI is to understand the fundamentals. As a mathematician, I look for future team members who have a solid foundation in areas such as computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics and data science. When dealing with complex problems, it’s important to have foundational skills that you can revisit as you decompose problems and build logical solutions.

What do you wish people understood about Data and AI?

It’s not all about data and AI! While I think it is critical to understand the fundamentals of data and AI, it is also important to increase your self-awareness and work on your emotional intelligence. There’s a lot of collaboration that goes on in data and AI. To be seen as a valuable contributor, you not only need the technical expertise, you also need to understand how to effectively maneuver what I call “people situations”!

How do you balance career and home life?

As much as I enjoy my career, my faith and my family are my priorities. Every day is different and requires a different solution; there is no one-size-fits-all. I am clear on my values and that clarity allows me to navigate each day with confidence and grace as priorities shift.

What’s your favorite place in the world?

Outside on a sunny day with a gentle breeze, relaxing in a shaded rocking chair with a glass of sweet tea…and wifi!
