As the Presidential Appointed and Senate confirmed CIO and Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology, he led a $7 Billion IT portfolio and a workforce of more than 16,000, supporting the largest integrated healthcare system in the United States in additional to supporting an Agency budget of over $300B and a workforce of 425,000 employees. He drove enterprise modernization, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives impacting over 9 million Veterans, their caregivers, and survivors.
An innovation-focused leader, Mr. Gfrerer is the Founder and Principal of Fidelis Technology LLC, a Federal market advisory firm and a trusted advisor to commercial technology companies and private equity firms pursuing growth in the Federal sector. He is a frequent speaker on government transformation, technology modernization, and public sector market strategy.
He also served as a senior leader at Ernst & Young, advising commercial clients on cybersecurity, digital transformation, enterprise strategy, and technology modernization. Previously, he held a distinguished career in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in senior leadership roles supporting national security missions.
