Thomas Rabaut

Mr. Rabaut is an Operating Executive with Carlyle, based in Washington, DC. Since joining Carlyle in 2022, Mr. Rabaut has served as Chairman of ARINC, Veyance, Novetta, ARMADA, Walbro and TITAN and on the boards of Qualicaps, Loc Performance, Rigaku, Landmark, Novolex and Signode. He currently serves on the boards of Allison Transmission and Saab Inc.

Since his involvement with Carlyle starting in 2007, Mr. Rabaut has served as Chairman of Carlyle portfolio companies ARINC, Veyance, Signode and Synagro, and on the boards of Carlyle portfolio companies Novetta, Allison Transmission, Qualicaps, Landmark Aviation and Illinois Central School Bus LLC.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Rabaut served as President and CEO of one of Carlyle’s most successful investments—the 1997 acquisition of United Defense. During his tenure in this position, he led the evolution of the company from a limited partnership through the formation of a stand-alone private enterprise to a NYSE publicly traded company and the ultimate sale to BAE Systems in June 2005. After the sale, he served as President of BAE’s Land and Armaments Operating Group where he oversaw 11,000 employees in 13 locations and was responsible for $3.7 billion in sales.

Prior to his tenure at United Defense, he served 17 years in various roles at FMC Corporation where he ultimately became Vice President and General Manager of FMC’s Defense Systems Group and served on FMC Operating Committees.

Mr. Rabaut earned his B.S at the United States Military Academy at West Point and served five years in the United States Army. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).  He received an MBA from Harvard University.
